“When I had the chance to hold a deformed hand of a Hansen, I was touched. It was like God saying, you have to help them and I felt I had to extend more help to cured leprosy patients”. - Mr. Jae Jung Jang

His frequent visit to Tala Leprosarium ignited the passion to rebuild the lives of Persons Affected by Leprosy back in 2002, when Sorok Uni Foundation was born.

Sorok Uni Foundation’s initial programs focused on helping Persons Affected by Leprosy, which later on extended to Homeless and Displaced Families and Individuals, Underprivileged Filipino Children, and Disadvantaged Indigeneous People of the Philippines. The helping initiative is within its four core programs: Relief, Rehabilitation, Empowerment, and Sustainability.

In its 20th year, Sorok Uni conducted Free Medical Missions to the communities it caters in the National Capital Region, Region IV-A (Calabarzon) and Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula).

In addition to the medical services offered, SUFI also conducted Leprosy Awareness orientations to educate more people about Leprosy. The success of the activities were made possible with the help of the volunteers, local government units, and private agencies who shared their resources to our cause.

“I hope, we Filipinos, can continue doing the same for our countrymen regardless of the status, belief, or circumstance in life.” said Ms. April Castillo, Executive Director of Sorok Uni Foundation on her anniversary message.
